It was good to see that our speaker was a former Lasallian graduate and he is going on to biger things that will help us and the next generation in the long run. I was confused at first, but the whole concept of how our cities and towns were built made sense. We talked about who can own land, and where you can built a house back in the day shaped our society now. I kind of see how all of this effects childs rights and poverty.

What you are on the inside stays with you forever and no matter how different you look how you feel in the inside is what matters. This poem helped me understand that the inner you is more important than how beautiful your hair looks or how good your make up looks because looks can only get you so far in life. When the speaker says, ”After all those years of watching her reflection in the mirror, sucking in her stomach and standing straight, she said it was a relief, being done with beauty.” She was done with trying to be someone she was not, it was a relief to finally be free and realize who she really was. The author realized that now she is herself and she does not have to cover up behind her looks.

Our hardest “season” to hold on to is life. With in seconds everything can change, nothing lasts forever. Life is all about growing like the flowers, Flowers only stay fresh and perfect for so long. When nature is first green, it is talking about being young and fresh and innocent. But then we grow older and wiser and we are gold and then we die.
